Sam grew up in midcoast Maine. After getting his BFA in film and animation from Syracuse University, he moved out west to “the other Portland”. During his 11 year stint in Oregon, Sam worked at Nike as a digital media producer. Basically a fancy term for filmmaker/photographer/animator/director/producer, Sam got his hands dirty doing all manor of creative projects. He started a family and his own studio in 2011, and then moved both back to Maine in 2013, settling in Cape Elizabeth. In addition to editing videos for Compass Light, Sam directs, shoots, and edits videos for a number of clients, including Nike, Adidas, The VIA Agency, Down East Magazine, The Camden International Film Festival, and The Tribeca Film Institute, among others. When he’s not working on client work or his screenplays, Sam can be found in the ocean, forest, or mountains — on foot, board, or bike. Or more likely, just cruising the Cape Elizabeth streets on scooter adventures with his oldest daughter, Corin.
