Brooke Saias (She/Her) is a documentary filmmaker and producer. She believes storytelling has the power to be an entry-point into the overlooked and can open up a deeper understanding of history, the environment, and ourselves. Prior to joining Compass Light, she was a video journalist reporting on national education issues with a focus on race and equity. Brooke is a member of the The Video Consortium and works on the mentorships team, which built VC’s first mentorship program for emerging nonfiction filmmakers sponsored by SONY. When not making films, you’ll probably find her wandering with her camera, experimenting in other narrative forms, cooking from the farmer’s market, or exploring a new natural area. She has a graduate certificate in Visual Storytelling from The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME and received a B.A. in Gender & Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
